Creating Alltel Connection

If you are a Midwest Wireless customer with an Audiovox 6600, you may have trouble authenticating for data when roaming on Sprint. Follow these instructions for creating a new Alltel connection.

Start/Settings/Connections
Tap the Connections applet
Tap Manage existing connections
Tap the New... button
Enter a name for the connection "Alltel 3g"
Leave modem at Cellular Line
Tap Next
Enter #777 as the dialed number
Tap Next
In User name: (yourtendigitphonenumber)@alltel.net
In Password: alltel
Click Finish

The radio button should be selected next to Alltel 3g in the resulting control panel. To test it press on this line and choose Connect from the pop up menu. It also seems to allow authentication on Verizon Wireless. (credit to greenlime812)

Spike Sends Jessica to Dirt Nap

In Spike's thoughtful soliloquy, last week, he bid adieu to his bride.

"Oh, Baby. You know what? I never really saw myself as a married man, you know, with a wife, kiddies. But after I blackmailed you into marrying me, and this is gonna' sound really dumb, but I used to have this fantasy all the time, you know. About how life could be for us some day. You know, it's the usual.

"You know. Little house. White picket fence. Huh. Then you coming home after doin' a few easy tricks, give me a big fat kiss, then goin' to make dinner. Then in the summer time, when it was still light outside, I'd take the little kids out and teach them how to pick pockets and shoot their first guns.

"Then, of course, we put those little monsters to bed and we have it out in the bedroom like never before, Honey. Get wasted, of course, and watch porn.

Yeah, Baby, that's the American Dream. But that dream is dead now, Honey. And that's too bad."

Could Orb Be Infected?

I use Orb version 1, since version 2 refuses to operate for me. This morning my firewall notified me that Orb had changed. However, I was not notified, or requested, to do an update. I was just leaving for work, so I did not write anything down, but the details indicated the source of the change had yahoo in its domain name. This is too suspicious, so now I don't feel like I can let Orb run, or get out of my system because it may have been infected. I hear that messaging programs are being used as a conduit for exploits, and that yahoo messenger had an urgent security update. Should I do an Add/Remove on Orb and reinstall?

If there is no God, who pops up the next Kleenex?

Believe me, I will get around to buying that copy of Windows Server.

Isn't pizza one of the nutritionally most effective foods? More is better, right?

Another "Another Day" is in the works.

What Am I Going To Do?

Well, that depends. Am I financially secure enough to retire? What is the structure of my daily personal relationships? Does it involve chocolate? I think I should make an ice cream cone and cogitate.

The odd note is: We think funny in the west, don't we? Such as, "Ya' have to know when to hold 'em and know when to fold 'em." Or, "It's better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all."

I would like to be able to describe how buoyancy operates in a gravity-free environment. Heh.

Ctrl-Q to Exit

This seemed so obvious I did not dare mention it on the forums. Nobody has to be troubled with reiteration on this blog, however. No searching? No problem!

People complain there is no way to truly exit an application on their Windows Mobile phones. Try this. If you can open the keyboard in an application, type Ctrl, then q. Pretty simple, huh. As a matter of fact, if you are using a browser with legacy roots, try it right now ... but please come back to leave a comment.

Of course, there is always Menu/Settings/System/Memory/Running Programs/(select program)/Stop. And after one does that dozens of times a day, it's a snap, too.

Passions We'll Miss Ye

Well, no one in our Passions discussion group has satellite TV, so we are hoping the NBC edition goes out with a bang. We will miss the actors doing funny things with their noses. And who was more powerful, Alistair or the script writers? Tabitha, old girl, see you on DVD.

Timmy, you will always have a place in our hearts, pal. (images)

Doughnuts for Supper

This just isn't a good diet plan. Take my word for it, I've tried it. They say most fad diets work because they disrupt your normal overeating pattern. But no matter how much I stuffed myself with creme-filled donuts at supper time, I still managed to gain weight! Day after day, jelly-filled, long johns, every flavor of frosting I could find, I just kept getting bigger and bigger. So help me, Richard, I'm ready to turn to fresh fruits and vegetables any time now.
